Alan R Parker was born in Covington, Kentucky, and at the age of four, moved with his family to Loveland, Ohio, a small town on the outskirts of Cincinnati. His father built a motel on a US Highway and Alan became fascinated with the different license plates and was stirred into wondering what these places must look like. It was while living in Ohio, dreaming of travel, he was given his first guitar and his songwriting began.

In addition to songwriting, , Alan and his wife of many years make West in Colorado their home. Twenty-nine miles from the Utah border, one of their favorite things to do is to load up the old Jeep and go camping back to Utah. There, they sit by the campfire, watch the shooting stars, and listen to coyotes in the not-too-distant Hills.
